need help designing work bench.
I am having a new garage built as I type this and as part of it, the contractor is building in a workbench down one wall. I am to give him the parameters for the workbench and I need help.
I am looking at it being 20' long and about 2' deep with shelving above it and some storage area below it with pull out drawers. And room to roll a welder and tool cabinets under it. And some peg board in areas to hang stuff.
So please give me some other ideas.
Thanks.

Make sure it's high enough to work standing or sitting on a draftsmans stool. Pegboard is poor: just put up 3/4 plywood and set dowels as necessary (I have a dewalt dw318 jigsaw with 10tpi smooth blade hanging on dowel by my right hand so I can cut a new hanger instantly from dowel or wood scrap). I also use little mini shelves to locate non-peg stuff in proximity, with lucite plate to see through. Put heavy tools low so they don't have far to fall. Put measuring tools right at the end of your nose, especially calipers. Measure everything and record on palm pilot with a film over surface to protect against shop crud. Record ad hoc and organize notes later after shower while watching TV and beering up.
