Ok, mine hasnt sat nearly as long, about 6 months, carburated 12a bare bones, with a street port. Got new rotor/wires/etc. but still wont fire. In an earlier post someone stated using seafoam? seafoam? never heard of it? Also, should I try some of the atf in the chamber or am I too late now that I've turned it over a handful of times? Otherwise, what else can i try? thanx.

If you have fuel/air/spark, try pouring a capfull of oil down each carb barrel to build compression back up. Seafoam can be found at your local autoparts store.

I agree with the capfull of oil. No need for exotic fluids to start an engine that's been sitting for a while. It also helps if you have a slow starter or low compression.

IT'S FREE!!! I just wanted to give an update on the the resurrection of the 12A. After soaking in MMO for 2 weeks then ATF for 3 days, it's turning!

I just needed to tell somebody ( my wife just doesn't get it). I'll try and fire it this weekend. Thanks to all of you for your wisdom and encouragement.

Kris

If you are interested in what the car looks like after I brought it back home I've linked a few photos for your review. If I can find photos of the early years I'll post those later.

IT LIVES!

I pored fresh gas in, new oil, new battery, new filter, hit the key and it fired to life after at least 6 years. Lot's of smoke for about 10 minutes and it finally seems to have stopped. Oil pressure is good. Temp seems to be stable.

Now I have a few issues.

1. The car will idle, but the Tach reads 5,000 rpm. What's with the tach?
2. The engine seems to struggle beyond 5,000.
2. The Gen light is on and my aux volt gauge is confirming this.
3. The low Coolant light is on. It is full of coolant
4. The low oil light is on. It is full of new oil.
5 When the car is shut down it won't start unless I have some assist with some carb cleaner. It doesn't seem to be getting enough fuel at start up.

I could use some of the groups brain trust.

Thanks,
Kris
