Need help with ATF rats nest removal
Hey,
Let me start this thread by saying that my car is an '84 GS with totally stock 12a-- well until now.
I need some help with my rats nest removal.
I removed all the appropriate items, and made my blanking plates and so on. But problem is the car wont start anymore.
I followed the instructions by RX7Carl, or so thought-- most excellent I might add (obviously I'm one of the stupid few that can't follow such great instructions). Now the car turns over, and will occasionally just sputter a bit, but wont start.
Also let me add the I am going to be removing the a/c completely, so any vacuum hoses pertaining to the a/c I shouldnt need, correct?
So, If someone has the time would you clarify to me exactly which vacuum lines I need to cap and maybe a total number (so I could count them up and check 'em off).
Also, the only part that I couldnt figure out on the tutorial was the line that is supposed to go to the 'cruise control'-- Forgive me but I dont know where that line is supposed to terminate.
Thanks soooo much,
Josh

Airflow is my life
Hi, where in O-town are ya? Sounds like you have a big vacuum leak, or you accidentally disconnected something. Your removing the AC? Your a brave soul. I cant live without mine down here. Yes you can cap any of the ports your not using. Which end are you having trouble with regarding the CC?

I had a similar problem and it was the big vacuum pipe on the passenger side bottom left (facing the side of the engine). Just look way down under the carb on the left side. There should be a rather large fitting coming out pointing towards the firewall.
Plug that line and the car should run fine, provided you plugged all the other appropriate ports.

Thanks for the advice, I'll give it a try tomorrow.
I'm actually in Altamonte, not more than 100 yards to the Orange county line. Just have Orlando as my location given that it's where most people would know.
Regarding the cruise control, its the opposite end of the t-fitting. I think I hooked up the solenoid correctly, but am clueless as to where the other end even goes. Is it even neccesary to hook it up if I don't need it?
And to explain the no a/c idea. This engine is for a MG swap that will be in the works for the next year or so. But I figure I better get the rx-7 running tip-top before I transfer motors.
Thanks again,
Josh
