Question NEED HELP... after playing with carb mixture screw.. car dies and wont idle

So today I decided to play with my mixture screw on my 47mm oer carb to see if I can get maximum psi using a guage. guage was bouncy from 16.5 psi down to 14 so i kept playing with it. Aslo adjusted my fpr to 4psi, Played with it for atleast an hour, all a sudden car dies and when I start it car sputters then dies. Checked spark plugs and they are black, could it be a possibility I burned out the plugs. Is there a possibility I hurt my engine playing with the mixture screws????

its weird how its sputtering then it dies, I was going to head out to kragen and get new plugs to see if it fixes the problem.
