need help with 80' wiring ASAP please!!
ok. im trying to fire up my car this weekend. i keep coming encountering more and more problems. well, the wiring is one of them left. i initially had an FD alt in put i had to reinstall the stock one that im not sure works. i know to instal an FD alt im supposed to to bypass the external restrictor(?). well i cant find it as described by other forum members. so i followed the alt wires to where they plug in. there is a B/W and a W/B wire from the alt.
the alt wires connect to a plug and the previous owner had cut most of the wires coming from this plug. the only wires left are the alt wires, a yellow wire he said was for water temp, a B/W wire that goes nowhere and a G/R wire that jumps to of the posts together.
also, in one of the other pics youll see a relay(?) that have a yellow and a blue wiring coming from them. these two wires go accross my engine bay and into a whole through the passenger side of the firewall. i dont know what they do, but theyre in my way and id like to remove/reroute them. anyone know what they are? coming from the same relay is a black wire that goes nowhere and a plug that goes nowhere. any idea what these are?
i need all the info i can for all of these wires. any help is greatly appreciated.
oh yeah, there are 3 relays next to the master cylinder. can someone tell me what each do. i have them circled in the pic.

top right/middle is a G/R wire that jumps those two spots
bottom left is a yellow wire that i was told goes to water temp sensor
bottom right is a B/w and W/B wires that go to the alternater

Here is the '80 wiring diagrams.
http://www.wankel.net/~krwright/file...ingDiagram.pdf
For the alt, it is like the 81-85 cars. There is no external regulator if that is what you mean. There is 1 wire that is switched 12v, one that is for the warning light and tach/volt meter operation, then the output for the battery (larger wire). The FD alt is the same except it uses a constant 12v source instead of a switched 12v.
The relay that connects to the alt is called the Choke & Check relay. It has two plugs, 1 with 4 wires and 1 with 2 wires.
The 4 wire plug should have:
- Blue w/ red stripe
- black
- Black w/ light green
- yellow w/ blue
The two wire plug has:
- White w/ black
- Black w/ light green
The White w/ black stripe wire from the 2 terminal plug is for the alt warning light. It connects to the bottom of the alt plug. The top of the alt plug should have a black w/ white stripe wire. This wire should have 12v when the ignition is in the 'ON' position. Hope this makes sense. Let me know if you need anything else.

So you are trying to remove extra wire/connectors then? That relay with the blue and yellow wires looks aftermarket. Could be for an e-fan, fog lights, or similar. For the other realys, it is easiest to check them out with the wiring diagam. Look at the color of wires and the style of plug and match it up to the diagram. It is hard to see the locations of the relays in the diagram to tell which is which. I am downloading the diagam again and will take a look. I am on dial-up at the moment, so it is a bit slow.
