Need good links for rotary engine rebuilds

I would like to have some good links to rebuild a 13B (SE) and a 12A.

I don't know of any websites with step by step instructions but here's a video on How to Rebuild Your Rotary Engine

Go to the vendors link at the top of this forum. Some of those people sell kits and/or rebuild engines.

If it was me...

I'd rebuild the thing myself to get rid of labor costs and maybe even get a porting template from Racing Beat...

Then again, maybe I should stick to transmissions.

I believe there are some reputable rotary shops in Ontario, if you don't want to rebuild the motor yourself. If you are adventurous though, you should give it a whack yourself. www.rotaryengine.ca sells overhaul kits for a decent price if I recall correctly.

P.S. Like the man said, get the street port template

There are a few step-by-step sites out there explaining 13B rebuilds with guidlines, suggestions, and pictures.
There was a REALLY good one on the Big RX-7 Links Page but it seems to be down - it even had a few videos to go along with it.

Here is my list of PROVEN TO BE GOOD rotary shops, almost all of which do rebuilds. There is a canadian section there.

That's the spirit! Rebuilding a rotary is not very difficutl to do in-fact I dare say it's easy. Get a Haynes manual, the Atkins video, read a lot of websites on the subject and you'll be able to do it with your eyes closed. Good luck and let us know how it turns out!

yeah i ordered my haynes manual, and getting the atkins video is a good idea too I'll let you know guys how it turns out!

Hum, what type of tools that i need to make the rebuild ???

Here's a nice site with some very useful information. Most of the info is for race engines so use some common sense before applying some of these techniques to your daily driver.

there are some local rotary guys that rebuilt a t2 engine a couple months ago. i went over there to see waht all was involved. it didnt really look to bed, i got my hands in there a few times. the only thing that was a bitch was getting the water seals in there because they didnt want to stay in the grove. when you but a housing on you have to go around with a flashlight to make sure they were in. they are colored blue (atlest the ones from his rebuild kit were) and if you didnt see blue in one spot, then off it came. the apex seal springs were also a bitch because there are 2 (i thought there was only one) and the second ones didnt want to go in. other than that.. not much of a problem. the haynes manual helps ALOT.

i dont know.. the rebuild kit he bought (i believe through mazdatrix) had 2 springs for the apex seals. a smaller one and a longer one. and it said to but the housing on the side plate, then the rotor in without the springs in the apex seals, then when the rotor was in, put the springs in. is there a different way to do it?. i think it was so the seals didnt come out when the rotor goes into the housing.
