Exclamation Need corner huggin' directional tires?? LOOK!!

I know this isn't exactly 1st gen material specifically, but this is the forum I spend my time in, so......

I was recently in the need of new tires for my 84 GSL. I wanted something that would grip the road really well....and I mean REALLY well.

Well, I found 'em. These tires will take corners HARD and you won't lose ANY grip (as far as I've been able to tell) and the best part about 'em is that they don't make any squeeling noises around the corners either!

Dunlop SP Sport FM901

I'll never buy another brand tire... I have had nothing but good luck (and EXCELLENT cornering) with Dunlop!

Discount Tire ordered 205/50-15's and they were somewhere around $85 each with the roadhazzard warranty.
Click here for a SUPERSIZE view of this tire!!

Dunlop's are awesome! I've run them for years on my old Acura and now my Audi. I wish they had 'em for 13" rims.

I have those same tires... 205/45/16...And trust me...If you corner hard enough...they WILL squeel! For me atleast, its once you really start to get sideways then they will scream.

The only problems I've ever had with Dunlop is: road noise (who cares in a sports car), lack of longevity (again, who cares in a sports car), and tread separation. Its the tread separation that keeps me away.

I nearly killed myself on ONE Faulken performance tire... I had Dunlop D40M2's all the way around, blew one out (hitting a curb in my Sentra SE-R with MASSIVE Torque Steer)... well, I replaced it with a Faulken (it was a performance rated tire as the Dunlops were, but I don't remember the tire model)

Anyway, taking a "swirve" corner I guess you could call it, around 90, I almost lost control of the car... I'd taken it before all the damn time with ALL DUnlops, but that one "performance rated" tire wouldn't hold up worth ****!

Now, I know a lot of you would say "it depends on the model of tire, and this and that and yadda yadda yadda"... Yeah, I know all that....but I'd never use another brand OTHER than Dunlop simply because I know they work for me.

Cheers!

Try using FOUR Falken Azenis, and tell me the same story.

There's a reason that they are the most popular tire for autoX in "street" classes. THEY ******* ROCK!

I've been having some good sucess with my Kumho's. Paid $35 a tire and they are purdy damn sticky. Never tried Auto-X before, but they sure do hug the back-roads well

Falken Azenis and Kumho MX are the 2 best street tires you could possibly run as far as performance goes without stepping up to something with a Racing Compound.

this isn't opinion, it's from what i've seen personally.

but still, the dunlop is probably a pretty damn good tire for the price.

I'm with some of the guys above.. They're good tires, no doubt, but they're not the best...

And they're LOUD! I used to run them on my protege5 and ended up switching to Yoko AVS ES100s. every bit as sticky, but quieter.

Azenis, Kuhmo MXs and toyo T!-Ss are all sticvkeir tires..

i run hoosier street td.... they last 8,000 miles, but for weekends, drags, and autocrosses. I run dunlops on daily tires; but when you get out of the hoosiers, the dunlops suck. when i put them on my other rx7 after having completely crap tires on, the dunlops kicked ***. hehe

I have 205-50-15s of Toyo Proxie4s on the protege... let me tell you, those tires will grip your face off, to the point where your whole car will lean and tip over before it even thinks about sliding...

I had falken 512s before hand, and they were pretty sweet too. i will never go back after the toyos though, and they only costed me 65$ per tire vs 57$ on the falkens.

FM-901's are pretty tight and i liked the old azenis ($50 a piece and huge tread blocks, i do miss them) but...S-03 pole position > all

When I had my Se I ran Dunlap D60A2's. They were an excellent street tire and were outstanding in the rain. But I could not find them anymore the last time I tried.

BFGoodrich g-Force T/A KD are unargueably the best autoX street tire. Just ask Grassroots Motorsports magizine.

The OLD Azenis were kick ***, but they changed the tread and I dont like em as much now. I had a set of Yokohama H.P.T. (One off, custom cut) and they were heaven, but I shredded them in only one season For now, they make the Falken Ziex in 185/70R13 which is decent for a daily driver.

+10, been tested and proved that they handle best out of any street tire in dry weather conditions, hands down.
