TN Need Clutch Help

Just did a clutch job on my 85 13 B. Replaced master and slave and bled. Clutch wont engage to allow it to go into gear. If I start it with the clutch in and in gear it seems like its almost there but still rides forward or back...

1. Is there a chance that the plate is in backwards?

2. It was shifting fine before replacing clutch... ie fork etc...

Any help would be greatly appreciated ...

Pilot Bearing

No sure didnt. Seemed like it spun freely. Should have changed it anyway. ( parts store was closed.. blah blah blah) I know better. But how would that not allow the clutch to engage./

Sounds like a few things. Poor clutch engagement can be a few items but should be easy to track down.

So your pedal is good?

Fluid in the clutch master?

Did you try bleeding the system?

Did you bolt up the slave correctly and tight?

Throw Out bearing new?

Clutch had the flat side towards motor?

Did you replace the pressure plate?

i want to go the the gap but cant no money kind of thing. i think what it is. is that the throw out bearing and clutch are not the right one for the car. i went over to his house and we pulled the tranny out. it had a stage 3 clutch master clutch on it before and the car its self has been through some bad mods. has a really cool hood and exhaust on it though. he is going to order another clutch from clutch masters but not a stage 3 this time hopefully that works.

There is a 12mm nut on the pushrod which extends from the pedal forward into the clutch master. You will need to loosen the nut, and turn the rod in or out until the friction point is reached. It sounds like you will need to lengthen the rod.

First determine that everything else is correct before you mess with the adjustment of the clutch rod. It should only ever be adjusted after a new clutch is installed, and only if necessary.

hum when we get the new clutch in we will check that jeff. i didn't even think about that but we pulled the tranny anyways. to make sure that everything was right the throw out bearing was a little lose rattled a little on the shaft. i figured that O'Releys isnt the best place to order that kind of stuff from.

The slider hub is worn. Get an aluminum or cast iron replacement from Mazdatrix.

but the clutch masters throw out bearing fits perfectly. i think that store ordered him the wrong one they are very good at doing that. heck they thought my 73 beetle has a radiator and a water pump. thats why i don't think they got the right one.

Hey Joe you have a stock flywheel? I was going to measure my flywheel and see if its stock or not. Longshot I suppose but could be the problem.

Check this link at Mazdatrix for flywheel info. If you have doubts, pull it, check the number on it and weigh it.

no your flywheel is stock. I'm sure of that. remember i made a comment about that. i think after you get the right clutch pack we can adjust the rod. and it should work the throw out bearing should not be so loose. i do want to go see the foo fighters though im waiting to see if this girl want to go but either way i want to go
