need axle diagram for spacer/bearing

I took out the the collar, bearings and the spacer, but now I forget how the spacer goes.

The spacer has a recessed conical groove on one side and a flat side on the other, but I don't know if the flat side goes towards the bearing or the brake dust shield. Anyone? please help.

Anybody has a diagram on how the components go? I have a manual that I downloaded but the pictures are too small.

thanks
