need 200 horses

I've been saving up and im just about to purchase a rebuilt streetported (intake and exhaust) 12a engine from atkins rotary, i have a racing beet header, and im going to go for the msd6a ignition. i have removed the a/c. this is for my 81' gsl. do you guys think this will put me at 200 horses or do i need to do more, and if i need to do more what else should i do.

A good street port, as I understand it, should put you at around 200 HP with the proper intake and exhaust setups.

What do you plan on using for an intake? Or for the rest of your exhaust? Are you using the RB "race" header made for the ported engines?

Running the standard carb with that setup won't give you much of a gain at all. To make the most of it you need to have the Nikki modified to flow more CFM or install an aftermarket carb such as a Weber or Holley.

The Nikki can be modified by enlarging the venturis, machining the throttle plate/shaft assembly and airhorn for less restriction and running mechanical secondaries. A well ported intake manifold and cold air intake helps as well.

The best option if you can get one would be to install a 48IDA Weber but the 48DCOE will work great as well.

Regardless of what you choose it needs to be tuned correctly, preferably on the dyno with a wideband o2. It will pretty much get you where you want to be in terms of hp though.

i was going to run the nikki because the motor is will most likely drain my funds since i need to paint it too, its the racing beat street port header, i dont want to remove the cats though because i need to get it inspected so i can drive it on the road. i will put the header on after its inspected but i wont have enough for the whole exhaust any time soon

Those cats are a nasty restriction... It's the old pellet type, so basically a big metal box full of some stones... It's further impeded by the first two cats falling apart and clogging it up...

For carb, you can get your existing (Or junkyard swiped) standard Nikki modded by Paul Yaw for I think it's like 300 bucks... He even sends you extra jets and **** if you wanna tune. It takes a bit of time though... He knows his ****, but does the work himself...
