Need 1984 GSL-SE engine for grenaded old one

Need 1984 GSL-SE engine for grenaded old one.

Yesterday I was driving on hwy 50 in Sacramento. For some reason I hadn't shifted to fifth after I got on biz 80, it was no where near redline and then I heard a clank and a horrible sound and the car lost a lot of power. I must be psychic but I thought that this is probably not a good thing. I pulled over praying for a bad ignitor which would be awesome as I carry around five spares. No difference. Since I had an appointment to make, I nursed it as gently as I could and got there.

When I got out I had to do the old pull the injector fuse trick until it pushed out the gunk in the engine and when I put the fuse back in while it was turning, it fired right up. On one rotor.

I'll give it this, for an Atkins rotary (so I was told by someone who had no reason to lie) it ran great, lasted from 1997 (it was used when I got it) until yesterday and it never gave me any problems. I'd buy Atkins again if I have to. Every RX-7 I've owned needed at least one replacement engine in the time I'd owned it but this engine was a rock and now it really is one. Oh yeah, I used to shift at what I'd estimate by the tach to be around 10k. I'm sure that had nothing to do to it...

This morning I did a compression check and there was zero compression on the front rotor, this is bad yes? I tried putting in oil but nada. I can't wait to see what's left of the insides. I'll put it in the paper, "runs great on one rotor" and see if anyone bites. It ran fine on one rotor, I was at least able to get groceries but I am less than pleased. Every and I mean EVERY RX-7 I've owned needed at least one replacement motor and I drive like a Grandma on her way to a Goth worship section.

So as the more astute have noticed, I need a newer or well built rebuilt 1984 or 1985 GSL-SE 6 port engine that has compression on 2 rotors if that is too much to ask. Being in the Sacramento area would definitely be a plus.

If you have to pull the engine out of a 'parts' car, please be gentle and removed the hoses at their far end (radiator side of radiator hose, remove the wiring harness where it goes into the front harness connector (I'll buy you a beer, Pabst Blue Ribbon!), etc...oil hoses don't matter as I have the SS ones which will probably leak but one thing at a time. Ideally, a 1992 engine and 5 speed tranny (transmission, get your mind out of the gutter) would be a blessing
from above.

Today, the only zoom zooming I'm hearing is the money leaving my bank account.

I believe an S5 NA is a direct swap for the 84-85 GSL-SE 13B if you use the GSL-SE intake, ECU and injectors. You may want to ask in the 2nd Gen section as well. I have a 85 13b motor in my car that runs on both rotors, but smokes like hell. It would work for a while till you get yours rebuilt, I am on the east coast and freight would probably run around $250.00. If you can't find something closer, PM me and maybe we can work something out. I think the smoking could be reduced by using a heavier weight oil, I just haven't tried that yet.
