n1 style muffler questions...
anyone (especially NA guys, especially NA 12a guys) have any experience with N1 style mufflers (the 2.5" inlet 4" outlet) w/ and w/o a silencer?
my fb is really loud with a header, straight pipe, and a stock muffler and i don't want to attract any unwanted attention, if you know what i mean, so i'm thinking that a muffler with a silencer would be a good solution, if it works well enough to justify.
any input would be appreciated! thanks

I just bought a complete used exhaust system from badassrx7. It was a header, cat, and n1 muffler. I don't use the silencer, and it is not too loud to **** off the cops (I thought it as a little loud, but my g/f said she could only hear it when I was rolling close to her, so...), but I haven't rolld by too many cops either. With the silencer, it gets a little quieter, but not whisper quiet. I think it would be pretty loud if you use a straight pipe though. Just my .02.

if you have header and strait pipe and you dont want to atract police, dont get one because i have one and when i had my car N/A it sounded a little loud but i still had the manifold and a cat. so i dont recomend if noise is your concern. if you going to buy one bad ill recomend to get a presilencer

im just wondering what the point of haveing a 2.5" inlet with a 4" outlet would be, besides teh rice factor.. i mean is that it or it seems liek they must have some reason for that im just curious.

1. header, straight pipe, stock (20 yr old busted-***) muffler
2. header, straight pipe, n1 w/ silencer

Rollin' coal and 53mpg!
Robert (680RWHP12A) told me that the Racing Beat muffler for an FD is one of the best options to buy. Basically all that is needed is to cut off the pipe that leads into the muffler, and have any muffler shop weld on a new pipe... (or do it yourself, if so inclined)
