Got about 100 miles on the trannie and have noticed this from the start. I have been taking it pretty easy on it but when I take it to three thousand and puch in the clutch, the tranny reves down and makes a little whine. Didnt notice this with the last one. I changes the oil in it and put a additive called lucus engine treatment in it. It said it was also made for manual trannies and diffs. This stuff is thicker than ****. Just wondering if that sound sounds normal, or does it sound like I got a bad trannie. It seems to be running ok, but I wont take it over 4 thousand rpms for now.

Ok now that I beat the pilot bearing thing out of you I'm going to ask about your clutch hydraulics
Make sure the master cylinder is adjusted enough to allow the clutch to become fully disengaged. You should start to feel resistance on the pedal as soon as you start to press it. If you have a couple inches of clutch pedal travel before you feel any resistance chances are your clutch isn't being fully disengaged causing the clutch to drag and transmisson to make strange noises and/or even grinding the gears durring shifts.

Well I had to bleed the clutch when I put the tranny in. Dont know why, cause last time I didnt have to, Could the problem be, that its not bled all the way. I dont know cause I dont have to push the pedal down allot to relese the clutch.

After many years of the clutch being pushed in and out you have to get under the dash and adjust the metal push rod that pushes on the clutch master cylinder. Over time the linkage/levers/cylinder start to build up clearance. Adjust the push rod untill it has a little drag in the master cylinder when you rotate it. When I got my 83 it was unreal how much slack there was in the clutch pedal.
