My tranny crapped out the day I found an SE - long

Okay, guys, I need a little advice. My tranny won't fully disengage, whether it's the shift fork, throwout bearing, hydraulic circuit.... who knows. I found an SE and was thinking about pulling the tranny and went to see it. The body's a mess, but it's got its full suspension, all 4 wheels, and a carbed 13B minus the carb itself. So.... do I grab the tranny, the tranny and suspension, the tranny, suspension, and engine, or buy the whole damn car? The other consideration is that I live in an apartment with two parking spaces. She uses one and I've got the GSL and Dakota, so where would I do all this. Is the enigne/tranny swap or suspension swap something that could be done in an afternoon in a parking space or what? Finally, I have some panasport ripoff rims (I love em, but they'd have to go) and Ground control springs and sway bars with Illuminas taking care of damping. How much of this could I reuse with the SE suspension (obviously not the wheels, but what else?). It looks like I can pimp the SE here within a month or so and just want to examine my options - what do y'all think?

What are the differences between the 12A and SE suspensions? Bigger discs, vented rear, bolt pattern - anything else? Also, do I just change the backing plates and swap the axle shafts or should I pull the whole axle? Do I need a new driveshaft with the SE tranny, or are they the same length? What little stuff am I overlooking that's gonna be a problem if I swap in a carbed 13B?

I put an 85SE trans in my 83GS and it's great: 5th is a little taller and makes a great freeway cruiser gear.

The previous owner of my red83 swapped clutches in his apt parking lot in an afternoon.

You might want the driveshaft, as UJoints are not replaceable.

On the -SE's the rear trailing arms (lower) are 20 mm
offset then all other model rx7's. Some fabracating will be required. Look under the -SE, and look under your other 7.

How much do you swap on the suspension swap? Will i take the a-arms and struts and springs on the front? do i need to take both sway bars? what about the hydraulic circuit for the rear brakes? Are all the mounting points the same?

If you pump the clutch a few times in quick succession prior to shifting does it then shift ok?
If so, and your clutch fliud level in the clutch master cylinder is down, your slave cylinder is on the fritz. If the fluid level is still good it's your master cylinder that is worn out.
Neither component is very expensive ($30 for the slave and $60 for the master), and re-and-re procedure, while a pain in the ***, is not overly difficult and can be done in less than an hour.
