my tach went out why?

my tach went out why?

so along time ago my fuel pump relay went out and with it went my tach. i had a shift light hooked up to the coil and ever since my tach has not worked any solutions or sugestions, besides putting in a monster tach.

It is probably the trailing igniter (black box on the distributor closest to the alt). The trailing ignition drives the stock tach and the ECU uses it to determine if the engine is running so that it will engage the fuel pump relay. Did you just bypass the relay? Does the problem go away if you disconnect the shift light?

Ok I have a spare distributor he can try, it has a new relay and the shift light is no longer installed.

sorry to hijack this post...does anyone know how to wire up your tack with DLIFS 3 coil (jeff20B) ignition?

well also if thats the case then my trailing plugs would not be firing either correct?
