check your trailing igniter for spark and/or the female connector on the trailing coil's negative terminal.

Cold weather seems to play games on the tach. My GSL is not effected, the SE falls victim. When the temps drop the tach does not move on start up but recovers after an extended drive. It will not move at start up, then register up to a certain rpm, then register up to a little higher rpm and so on. When it is warm enough in the car to make me sweat, the tach functions as normal.

The tach in these cars is a poor design. Even the slightest tampering with the needle (taking it off) will pretty much destroy it. If the needle has any type of drag on it, it won't work right. I destroyed my first tach putting white faces on my gauges. I bought a second cluster and the tach didn't even work. The second cluster was never tampered with as far as I know. I wouldn't trust the stock one anyway. I've seen too many posts where people mention them being off by up to 500rpm at "redline".

this is what EXACTLY happens...yesterday i used a hairdryer and opened the cluster a little bit and heated it up and it started workin a little fast...so i figured it was the cold lol

it's cause after 25 years the grease in the tach gets old and has to warm up before it is geasy.... old dirty grease is not good for movement.
