My second gen radiator and alternator swap pics

The rad is fully installed and so is the alt.
they are both from an 89 GXL

soon will be a second gen power steering pump, thats why the spark plug wires are going all over in the pic

i have been looking in to the fc rad... and found out a VERY intresting thing.... a miata rad. is the same size and shape but the hoses are straight not angled like the fc so you dont have to mount it at the angle.... some guy lists fc and miata alum rad. on ebay... a side by side pic take a look if you can

I did not use any mounts at all, I used zip ties, its a very temporary mounting system.

I am making custom mounts for the rad, but I needed to see where it was going to sit.

The radiator has to sit on an angle, it is way to big to sit straight up.

as the radiator currently sits it is almost as low as the crossmember, and its as high as you can go without hitting the filler neck on the hood.

I also had to cut some steel out and relocate the horns.

The upper hose was from a second gen with about an inch trimmed off, the lower is from a 1st gen. You will have to work at the lower hose for a little while to get it into place, but once you do it fits great.

last couple times I took that stuff off the car ran horrible, I will however remove the smog pump and get an acv blockoff plate in the future "I already have the plate just need to install it and buy a dual alt pulley".

I should get some high def pics of my engine bay, cause it runs awesome without any emissions crap.

It could be when you take off the airpump, and make a block off plate and you get the mazda gasket, its not thick enough to hold vaccuum...so we used a cardboard gasket instead.
