I had a similar problem, but don't bother replacing the valve. You WILL be disappointed. Just plug it.
I wonder why RB or mazdatrix don't sell shutter valve block off plates... I guess something needs to be there to hold that stupid plate open.

 

dont worry nate, by no means did i relate that to me in any way wanting a bridgeport! hahahahah, and jayroc, good call but i dont think that's my prob for it's been blocked for quite a long time. then again, i could remove it and put a plate there possibly to make sure. i'm making 4 block off plates tomorrow now! hahahahha. sweet!

 

i have same problem. and i can't figure it out. still lub lub lub. have you fixed yours yet?

i have gotten it down to an intake manifold - engine gasket vaccum leak, a carb problem. or an APEX seal problem.

my 85 se stubled like that in the rain as well as my rx3. I just thought maybe water got inside the plug boots or something.
