My prototype FB/SA strut tower brace

Ok today I finally fineshed my strut tower brace after got everything tightened down I took it for a spin and the difference was unbelievable it actually turned when you told it to turn instead of thinking about it for a minute. I will get some pictures tomorow becouse I still have to do some finishing touches on it get it all nice and smooth. It am considering of making more if there will be any interest, it would be a lot cheaper than buying a racing beat or something along those lines. I just need to ttest it for about a week or so to see how it works. There would be 3 different setups 1: basick strut to strut brace 2: strut to strut to fire wall and strut to strut fire wall to front end if there would be any interest I am considering on making an X brace for the bottom of the car I dont know if it would be an ower kill but I know some guys that do autocross might find a use for it.

Tell me what you think. Pictures will be up tomorow.

Triangulated is a must, but is there really any benefit of going further?

I dont' know. I do know that adding a tri-brace to my SA made a world of difference.

Yes I need to make some more adjustements and resolve some posible clearance issues with putting a tribrace on there due to all the stuff that needs to clear so it can be easy to get to. I just need to get more pipe and a new sledge hammer becouse I broke myne today while making the brace that was not fun it was like its heavy and then it fell off right on my foot thank god its not but 3 pounder or I would be needing a cast of somesort with my luck.

I might be interested if the price is where a poor college student can afford it.

I LOVE the FB community. Always making things or making writeups so we all can help each other. I hope to be able to do the same thing when I have more time to make things.

I have an old Rotary Engineering brace that has the 2 firewall ties, I like it. I'm sure there is some flex in the firewall and adding a brace between the firewall ties sounds like a good idea.

Today we put some of the finishing touches on the prototype strut brace. This is just the basic strut-to-strut. I am thinking about selling these so let me know if you are interested and I'll make a decision in about a week. Plus I still want to try the triangulated (strut-to-strut-to-firewall) design. Take a look at the pix and let me know what you think! And yes, if I do decide to market it, it will include all hardware (nuts, bolts, etc).

By the way, you can click on the pics to enlarge them - just in case you didn't know

Ok guyz and galz, I was there tonite. I can tell you from a first hand experience, that this thing is really taking shape! It looks sharp, and it performs even better. Minda is really putting a lot of effort into this, so lets really make it worth his time. I personally can't wait to see the triangulated design!

Looking good. Steel and strong. BTW a triangulated design would be more rigid, but not SCCA legal.

Looks pretty good! I was thinking that I could make one, but I just dont have the time now days.

I am also looking forward to the triangulated design.

Have you thought about putting in a way to tighten the rod in the middle? I can't think of what it is called. . . . but since these are old cars it might come in real handy to make it fit perfectly.

I just found this in a search, and I definately think it deserves a bump for updates (unless there is another thread I haven't seen)

I gave a sketch of my junkyard special a few years ago to a forum member. I wonder if he ever got it done.
