My Progress, An Update
Well, I pulled the engine in the 83 today. I finally decided that I was going to tear it down and see what was wrong with it and why she wont turn. After hours of working (trying to set up the freaking block and tackle) and then finally getting the engine out of the car, I started stripping it down. I got all the way to taking the flywheel off (per the manual) and I went to the trusty roll-around tool box, got my 2 1/8" socket (yes, I actually had one, dont ask me why, I've never used it before), but my 3/4" drive ratchet is MISSING!! Grrr!!! So its on hold till tomorrow when I can get one. all that work and anticipation building and I cant even see whats wrong . Oh well.

Yeah can we get a pic of you taking that flywheel nut off with a regular 3/4" ratchet
If you got access to a air compressor and a 3/4 drive impact it will save you a LOT of trouble... It comes off in like 2 seconds.... Goes DD DDDD DDDD DDD Vrooom
Instead of damn damn F^%K damn 2 hours a beer or 2 or 3, hammer, more swearing, some sweat a few busted nuckles etc...
But good luck man, Im proud of ya
PS Oh and when you get the nut off, hit the flywheel from the backside with a small box hammer, turn 1/8 of a turn repeat with hammer, turn again etc ect. Leave the nut on a few threads so you dont loose a foot when it does pop off. Will save you a lot of trouble...

Well, Ive got the compressor, but no 3/4" impact wrench, just a 3/4" ratchet . Oh well, I do have 20' ceilings, a 15' breaker bar, and a 10' high loft that I can stand on . Maybe that will help me...

PS - Nice tips on removal Mike, but my enigne is siezed...No "turn, hit, turn" for me

Seriously Id go borrow an impact or maybe rent one for an hour or so at a tool rental place it will save you a lot of cussing
On the flywheel thing, use a large steel drift (not sure if that what its called)? try to put it behind the flywheel in different places hitting it in a rotational fashion. It will come off but you have to hit it pretty hard, they are on there GOOD
Well most of the time, just dont waste your time with a puller you will probally break them, I broke 2 in a row once, and then I found this forum and soemone told me how to do what I told you and it works!
