My Mariah Mode 1 interior pics

After posting some pics of my car a few people on the forum wanted to see more, so here we go...
These pics were taken yesterday. The interior has been stripped completely, the mess that made of the wiring loom(s) by the previous owner sorted, a cleaner dash installed (old one was worn badly), and a set of carpets to replace the torn ones. To finish off the job, I got some floormats. These are custom made for a RX7 specialist in the Netherlands, and fit perfect.
I still need to fix the cable/wire from the rear window heating, and one swith (rear wiper) is missing.
All panels are retrimmed red/black, to match the customized FD seats.
So, what do you think?

I really like those seats. I'd love to get my hands on a set for my car. Trouble is I'm pretty sure the FD's never came with the bitchin' maroon interior that my SE did

Looks good. Nice job.

Well, they never came in red/black either, if you know what I mean
All custom work. You can't believe how nervous I was when we took the "skin" of the (perfectly ok) FD seats, just to be able to make the patterns for the new trim.
But the result makes me forget all the sleepless nights, and the invested money...

Yeah, I know what you mean. I just don't think I could justify replacing a mint set of FB leather seats with a set of FD seats plus the cost of having them recovered. If I were to upgrade seats it would probably be to a Sparco, Recaro, or some other aftermarket seat with better-than-stock support.

I think those look great in your car, it just wouldn't make sense for me, ya know?

I love the seats and the doors. I think the car would look a lot cleaner if you painted the rear panels black, along with the dash and trim. It's the old adage of too much of a good thing. It's very well done, but a little "busy" IMO. But major props for the fresh look.

The rear panels are temporarily, I want to do some modifications later on, but just wanted a "clean" car for the summer. I worked on it a long time, and now just need to drive it. The whole trunk area will be changed later, just not really sure how/what to do.

I must have a steering wheel like that beautiful wooden work of art. Where did you get it and what does it cost? Thanks.

I actually don't know, it was in the car when I bought it. Mind you, that was about the only good part about that car. Paint wasn't too good, cracked fiberglass, very bad interior, no engine, overall looks were "good at distance".
The steering wheel is really an item I'm unsure of. I like it very much as such (it's stunning), but I feel it doesn't really fit the car. Not sure if I'll keep it. You know what? I'll let you guys decide: should I keep this steering wheel or swap for a Momo red/black one? Who wants to make a poll out of that?

Well, I get mixed reactions about that. Some think it's great, some think it sucks. I think it's a beauty, but I'm not sure if it fits the looks of the car. That what's up.

Keep the wooden steering wheel!

hehe, I have one in my car, although much smaller diameter (12 or 13" I believe).

Mine appears to be aftermarket, comes with a wooden look (plastic) section for the center spokes too, and somehow has an old Rx3 or Rx4 curvy M symbol for the center piece (which is also the horn).

Looks good, but not too fond of the excessive red accents. Gotta pick one color!

You remove it yourself, 2 screws,at the top. and 2 clip/pins. at the bottom. the clips stay with the cluster bezel. pull it straight at you, and paint it,.. Looks good, man.
Do you still have the back seat ?? i can see the latch
on the rear shock tower. Why do you have manual window, door panels, with electric windows ?. I'm just the oposite, door panels ,that is.-

Welcome to the space age!
Your interior looks really nice.
About the steering wheel...I would lose it if; a stock wheel with a black leather cover would look less ghetto.

The back seat was removed, it's stored away now. I intend to install storage bins. The latches will stay there till I swap the rear panels, just to fill the hole. But they will go in the end.
The car came with manual mirriors and windows. I installed power windows and mirrors, but kept the doorpanels. When we retrimmed them the original cardboard like panel was replaced by a self-made piece, less the holes for the window handles. That's the story.

BTW: the bezel was painted red, the gauges are selfmade. It works, so why pay for that? However it was a pain to remove the "glass" piece, that's glued.
