my gsl-se failed smog really bad
So im thinking of selling her but i need to get it smogged first. Well it runs really good never missed, no smoke. So i think it will pass with flying colors. this morning i go out to take her to the smog station. It fired right up and smoked some. Then it starts missing really bad. I pull up to the station and get it smoged I got 3,500 on the hc scale at idle and 700 at 2300 rpm. He tells me i am over fueling.
I have tryed the afm tweeking helped a little. Ive changed out my bad coil changed the plug with ngk, changed plug wires. I have put denatured achohol in the gas tank. All of this helped but i am still failing
Ps my cars acv is not working i think, also out of my tail pipe the air is just bearly coming out.

Some people drive around untill their engine is nice and hot, then smog it. It's supposed to make more complete combustion. Don't know if that'll help though cuz it seems like you did a lot.

Cats could be bad. The ACV is most likely cooked. 3 of the 4 chambers are accessible. The 4th you can take an air hose and blow thru one of the side small vents and see if the plunger will go up and down. I actually rigged one of the plunger chambers back together and managed to pass emissions with flying colors.

ok...first off change ur ACV run the test...if it still fails ur cat is done....change the cat and run the car with high octane fuel for about a half hour at highway speeds and city speeds....this will get ur engine hot thereby expanding ur apex seals properly so that it doesn't let unburned gas mix with the exhaust gas and come out....make sure thats working....is smog ur hydrocarbons or is it the nox....i forget haven't read my emissions technicial manual in a while...

It could be failing in HC cuz of the following:
Ignition problems
Low compression
Major engine wear
Extremely rich conditions
Extremely Lean conditions (lean misfire, vaccum leak, fuel system)
ECU (malfunctioning sensors)
