Talking my first project car

hey everyone

i'm about to buy a 83 ( don't know model yet lol). i looked at it and didn't see any thing like gsl or anything like that.. is there any other wayz to tell? well i don't really care about that cause it's all coming out anywayz.. i'm going to buy it for 300 and it has a mariah wide body kit.. the only thing wrong with it was the front left fender had a little like dime size chunck taken out by the last owner.. and the guy i'm buying it from was going to do the same thing i want to so he already started fixing that.. it runs strong ( 143 xxx miles) body might sell motor if i don't use it.....in great condition.. interior is in ok shape.. missing passenger door handle lol.. but it's real nice for 300. and the only thing i like is the body and the body kit that's y i'm buying it.. well i'm still planning on what kind of engine i'm going to put in it.. any suggestions? i was going to go with a 13b motor maybe streetported. if i did that would i have any problems putting it in? or anything i would have to change or adjust? i'm hoping to have this project complete by the summer ( june ).. what is the going price for a 13b engine? i went to a couple of websites and the rebuild was like 2500. but i don't even have one to rebuild and none of the junkyards here have a rx-7 ( asheville sucks).. but any info would be helpful and wish me luck..
thanks cory

Sounds like you have much to learn, young Jedi...
but it definately sounds like a decent base car. As for an engine.... it's all up to you - how fast do you want to go? 13B Turboed would be ideal, but requires a lot of money, time, and effort... so probably not the most viable route... a rebuilt 13B should cost around $2200 US, if I remember correctly... then if you want a streetport, etc, that's even more... add $450 for core I believe, if you don't have an engine to start with...

Having this done by june, I'm sorry to say, will probably be nearly impossible, unless you are mechanically minded enough to do the work yourself... and fab up ways to do things... unless you stick with the stock engine setup and just go with headers, a new carb, and porting...

Does it have manual mirrors or power mirrors? And does it have rear drums or rear disc brakes?
