My first AutoX event with my SA22C
Well, it's the morning after my first AutoX event in my '79 GS.
Man, this car is a blast!
I AutoXed my '82 last year, but that car was tired and worn out, with a floppy suspension and loose steering. I was a challenge to make the car go the direction I wanted. No longer. My '79 goes where I want it, and when I want it to. It was an absolutely great feeling to be sliding through a long sweeper on all four wheels but still feeling like I was in total control. The rear end was willing to come around with some moderate throttle and was very easy to reign back in when needed. I hope to get better at holding a proper racing line, but the simple joy of sliding this car is hard to resist.
Of course, there were a couple of times where my exerburance exceeded my limited skill, but with a quick twist of the wheel and application of the throttle, the 7 came back on course with a minimum of fuss. Stay tuned, as I should have a couple of good photos and possibly a video as Manntis came along and got a couple of good clips in addition to a digicam that my friend (driving a '82 Supra) brought.
If any of you want to grow as drivers and test the limits of your car, sign up with your local chaper of SCCA or if you're a Canuck like myself, any WCMA/CNAC affiliated club. I can't rave enough about the people, the driving or the real potential for improving your driving skill.
If any of you are interesting in checking out my local club, the url is www.ssccracing.org. The results should be posted soon, as well as some good photos and videos of past events. There aren't any pictures of myself on there yet, but there should be soon.

I've gotta get a new camera, Matt - My firewire is completely kerfuckled. Who captured that other footage, Aaron? Maybe we could use his camera as a capturing deck to d/l the footage I've got...
