Red face MY FB TII snaped the drivers side lower control arm!!!

I was accelerating on to the interstate in second gear, making a left turn and it happened...
can i still drive the car without hurting it??
can i just get it welded back together?
i was going to run against my friends 350Z at the drag races wednesday night , will i hurt anything if i run it the way it is??

Steve

you mean the rear arm?

You can drive it but go easy.

Can not be welded if it is a actual arm, you will need to replace it.

Pics?

You broke one, now the other 3 will be under more stress. Replace it asap. Nice job, btw, that's the 1st one I've seen broken from torque and not rust.

It appears to have been bent at some point. Probably from an improperly positioned jack or lift.

don't even think about driving it like that.

83-85 had the rear of the lower arms angeled down, to mount to a lower pickup point on the axel. to reduce oversteer slightly.

good break!!!

Yea,Ive never broken one before....was there any wheel-hop beating it to death?
They arent supposed to be bent,Id bet on the jack theory, that tends to be a common case for the lower arms.Get it fixed, they are cheap and easy to find either here or at the wreckng yards.

In fact......wait for it.....wait for it......got one in my hand right now......I dont need it,how much you got?

20 bucks shipped?
I imagine shipping would be half that, but its just another part in my garage, so 10 bucks is 10 bucks.

Im not sure if my Paypal account is working. It was supposedly getting hacked and violated a while back and Paypal said they would shut it off if I didnt re-list my info.I didnt trust that the notice was legit or not and I didnt want to give out vitals if it was a scam. You can try it and let me know if she's working.......

steve--- that was a scam!! dont do that. if you are receiving emails about problems with your paypal what you need to do is open a new internet window then go to paypal and login. DONT use the links from the email! ive been getting those like crazy. i just delete them. cause think about it, if it was legit then when you log in youd have some form of a notice about your account. ive been getting these for months. ive always just deleted them and i have used paypal numerous times

When I first got my car both of mine were snapped. They are easy as hell to replace. It took me about mins to replace both.
