Question My fb Money woe's

Man gifts are not always as cool as they seem. first i get what is to me seems like the best present a guy like me can ask for, i recieved a 12a Turbo engine(japan spec) but I found out i need a stand alone system which could put me back at least $1000(used which I dont trust used ECU'S) that i just dont have at the moment. so i started looking into finding a carbureted system thats going to work, thing is my budget wont let me do that either. so i started researching and found that I can save a pile by simply sending out my nikki carb and manifold from my old 12a, but for each up theres a double hard down and I cant find any one in the area to do this job for me. if any one has the name and number of a good tech who can modify my nikki carb and plenum In new york or even shipped, than i'd really be greatful. I also tried paul yaw but have still yet to recieve a return call or email. I've since posted a few items i can do without on ebay to see if i can raise the money for the holly and turbo bonet and a friend (rsdevil) is going to help me out buy taking my old 12a off my hands. If i dont get this engine running soon I may just have, to have my self commited cause i'm going crazy. I'm open for suggestions and even will buy a used carb system from any one so long the price allows me to do so. If any one can help please email me at Williewarlord@aol.com

microtech!

edit: yeah or Sterling and RX7carl can mod your nikki. Carl built my carb and its great. I had it turbo prepped but haven't actually gotten to boost it yet, so I can't help you with that. If you do go with a carb'd setup thats what I'd recommend.

do the standalone. keep the 12at injected. more even power, more precise metering of fuel. safer.

ok i paid for it.

Just paid for the mega squirt should get it in a week or so. oh yeah Thanks for the brutal honesty. the stand alone is the way to go plus its way more tunable. will post a vid of start up and maiden run, after i pay someone to tune it of course.

MegaSquirt II includes all of the features and benefits of the original...
Onboard MAP sensor for NA or boosted engines up to 21psi! (Upgradeable to 4-bar/44psi with the MapDaddy Sensor Upgrade available on my site!)
Speed density or Alpha-N.
Use any injector - High or Low impedance.
Compatible with output from narrowband and wideband O2 sensors.
Log data on your laptop for later analysis.
Tuning software is free for download and regularly updated with new features.
Open Source design - all code and hardware information is available online.
Includes proper female DB37 connector and shell for your wiring harness.

Additional Features new to the MegaSquirt-II
24 MHz HCS12 processor,
Fuel control to 1 µsec (100 times more resolution than MegaSquirt-I),
Ignition control (full spark timing advance control, dwell control, etc) for one coil/distributor (7 pin HEI for example) and Ford's EDIS systems,
On-board stepper motor driver for IAC stepper control (this requires a few jumpers to be added on the MegaSquirt PCB to connect the socket jumpers to the DB37 connector),
Ford PWM idle valve support,
Built-in rev limiter, either 'fuel cut' or 'spark retard',
All tables are now 12×12 in size,
WBO2 AFR target table (in AFR units),
Independent dual-tables for VE and AFR target,
EGO feedback in wide-band mode is proportional to the difference between the measured AFR and the target AFR, the bigger the difference, the bigger the feedback step,
Spark advance table can have different rpm and kpa bins than VE and AFR tables,
115,200 baud serial interface with MegaTune2.25+,
CANbus networking *may* be added in next revision of hardware,
Barometric correction amount and direction configurable in software, and provisions for:
barometric correction based on initial MAP reading,
independent 2nd barometric MAP sensor for continuous real-time baro correction, or
no baro correction.
TPS values for open loop and flood clear mode are user configurable,
MAP based open loop can be set as well as TPS,
Both TPS and MAP based accel enrichment is built into the code, you can configure the ratio of each,
Blended Alpha-N and speed density
2 spare I/O lines for custom controls. (This is in addition to 4 lines for Idle stepper control if you don't need this, or the Fast idle solenoid then becomes a spare if you do use a stepper motor.)

but sadly i have to buy the harness apart so next paycheck its on like a leprachuan

I'm surprised that nobody mentioned that the FI system on the 12AT is absolute ****. Its VERY basic, moreso than the RE-EGI engine's system. I could be wrong, but I remember reading that its basically just a couple injectors with a few essential sensors to make it all work like throttle position and MAF. I could be completely wrong about it, but IMO, the FI system on all 1st and 2nd gen rotaries sucks ***. It was behind the times even when it came out.
