my FB is dead ;(

well guys, i had a feeling ever since i got my FB it wasnt meant to be, now i know it ;(
yesterday, i was taking the car off jack stands to take it down to the shop to get some real productive work done, and the car rolled backwards down my driveway and came about an inch from a pole, it was stopped by a treet stump that caught the drivers side door, it pushed the door up into the fender and now to fix the car its going to cost more than its worth, the door is unharmed, but its position moved, are the door hinges welded to the body? or are the bolted on, if they are bolted on maybe i can push it back forward and pop the dent out of the fender, if they are welded on, then its time for me to start parting the car out..

-----------------------------------------------------------
the point of all this:
Are the door hinges welded or bolted onto the frame of the car?
------------------------------------------------------------
if they are welded, feel free to start making requests for parts and state the price you want to pay for the part, i dont really care what i sell the parts for as long as its a reasonable price......

They are bolted.... I removed my doors not too long ago. To get access to the bolts you have to remove the fender though... and to remove the fender you have to take off the bumper.

are you sure the hinges themselves are bolted to the body? I thought they were bolted to the door, and welded to the body....

nope they are bolted to the body... I remember the pain in the *** it was to align the door. If you take a light to the hinge area you should be able to find the bolts.

Definitely bolted. I've had my doors off and on more times than I'm willing to admit (damn unforeseen problems).

You already need to remove the fender so you'll be right in there. If they're busted, rob some off a junkyard car. You could probably get a junkyard fender for next to nothing too, if you can't fix your current one.

Good luck. You're far from screwed and the car is far from dead.

no i didnt stand there, i had to get up off the ground and run after the POS !

i caught it about an inch from total destruction... (handrails are NOT forgiving) my neighbor had to PULL my car out of the spot it got stuck in with a chevy C10 :|

ok guys, i got the fender off, teh fender is raped, new fender time..its rusted on the edges anyway..the door has a small bend in it on the outside bottem lip that the weather stripping goes on, ill get a hammer and a cloth and fix that tommorrow, ill take the door off tommorrow if its not raining, ....sigh

i was losing hope, ive been working my *** off all week on the car, and now this crap happens and jolts my faith ... the only reason i wanted to save the car i now have to repair, the body was straight and rustless for the majority, now i have a bent fender and a offset door oh well, i love the old 7, i guess she'll just have to go to the back burner until i get a job...
im going to have to buy a beater car after i get the new fender / door because ive got to get back and forth to work and the 7 needs alot of work (new carb, new clutch, MAYBE new transmission)
