Question My center panel project - Need help!

Ok guys,

I've started my panel removal. I removed the shifter panel, removed the 2 screws at the bottom of the center panel. Removed the ashtray and removed the 2 screws in the middle. After, i removed the 2 screws at the top of the panel. Ok now, i can move the panel a little bit. Now i'm at the process of disconnecting. My problem is that lots of the connections are very tough to removed probably because of the years.. It's a 83 GS.
What is left to disconnect is the cig lighter, the heater black connection at the top (left), the pop-up lights connection and defrost connection, and the clock. Do anyone here would be gentle and explain to me in details how to removed these connections. I know i've done most of this job, but i want to finish it.

I'll add a picture in 5-10 minutes.

Thanks in advance!

Max

most of those connections just involve carefully unplugging the items from the wiring harness...

Other thing, i removed my shift ****. Do anyone here had an experience of putting a sparco **** on a FB ? I bought a Globe-X Sparco shift ****. The original shift **** was easy to install but my sparco isn't the same pattern. It have 3 little screws to install inside the shifter. I thought all shift ***** fit on all cars ? don't they?

Max, that center panel has been removed and installed at least 50 times in the last 5 years. Like Manntis said, just unplug the couplers on the switches and clock. The cig lighter uses bullet type connectors. One of them in on the back of the lighter, the other is on a wire connected to it. Also, dont forget to twist out the heater controls light bulb.

Hey I can't get my pannel out either. It is sticking at the top by the heater controls. I took all the ***** off and the tow screws at the top out. But it seems to be stuck at the top. Any ideas?

import guy: You'll just have to work/wiggle it around till its gets freed. The top seems to get hung up on the bottom of the dash on mine, theres a recess that it fits in (where the 2 screws are) and you have to pull downward in order to free it. Thats probably your problem.

I like the way you painted your center console black to match the exterior paint. Did you use the paint that matched the paint code? How much did it cost for the shop to spray it that color?
