My car is a freak
My car is a freak
I just realised my car is a SA today, my car must have been moded to be a S2 or something cos its got same instumentation as S2 and long rear break lights but says SA enscribed on the chassis. it also has electric windows and rear disk brakes, can someone shed some light or is it right what im saying?
Nope! You have a S2. The Rx7 we recieved in the US after 81'-85' all got the FB vin while all other 1st Gens produced for the rest of the world stuck with the SA22c chassis code designation.

Everywhere in the world except Canada and the United States, all Rx7s from 1979-1985 had SA22C VINs
In Canada and the US, the VIN standard changed, so all cars sold here from a certain date onwards had to have a certain pattern to their VIN. That pattern is what gives us the FB, FC, FD designations
If you're on Ausrotary much you'll notice that FB, FC and FD aren't used nearly as much as S1 - S6, because there is makes more sense to refer to the car by series rather than by a VIN that your car doesn't follow.
IIRC, the FCs and later (86+) used the standardized VIN the world over.
