My baby, attacked while she slept!
Attacked by the relentless enemy that pursues all our cars with a vengeance, that's right... RUST!
I never thought it would happen to me, as well cared for as this car is. My body man says it's because I drilled holes for the screws for the rear OEM splash shields. WTF? I put those on there to PROTECT the paint, but after surveying the damage I have to agree with him...
ANYWAY...this has to be repaired, and right away. I first noticed it a couple of years ago, when it was a very tiny spot, but as you can see this **** never sleeps, and WILL spread unless repaired correctly, even on garaged cars.
I'm looking for a replacement panel, my body man says they should be available for rust/rear quarter panel repairs without getting the entire factory quarter. Has anyone heard of these? If he has to fabricate a piece to weld in there it's going to take longer and cost more, so I'm looking for owners that have done some rust repair to help me out here. Any info on where to find a panel like he's referring to would be most helpful, and thanks in advance!

Honestly, the damage that shows does not look bad enough to warrant a panel cut and replacement, unless there is conciderable hidden damage. For the record, next time any penetration is made to the paint, it must be prepped and treated. This is pretty common with add on parts.
