my acv block off plate fell off

i just put a new acv block off plate on my 7 but the bolts werent the right size. when i put it on it seemed like it would hold though, and that same day it fell off on the highway and i drove like 15 miles without it. i was just wondering, what does that hole goes into?

well i found my old one that was messed up and got some bolts and put it on but its not sealed good but i can still drive it....when it fell off i was on the highway and i drove it like 15-20 miles home and it didnt stall...it was really loud tho it sounded cool . do you know what that hole goes into? since mine was so loud after it fell of im assuming it leads to the exhaust eventually.

It's part of your lower intake manifold... i ran mine without one for a while too, idled fine, the bolts to mine all snapped off so i JB welded mine on eventually. Because of the giant hole in my intake that my computer adjusted to, when i sealed it up it immediately started running rich as hell and puking out 10ft fireballs with the sound of a 12gauge.

(i've got efi if you didn't catch on)

i was looking at a diagram of the emmisions control system and the hole where the acv block off plate goes runs right into the intake port of the engine so i can see why if it wasnt there or not sealed well that the car would run lean and have crappy performance. maybe thats the source (or part of it) of my poor running these past few weeks. now i just gotta wait for my new plate from mazdatrix and then bolt in on and add some jb weld for extra sealing and see if it runs nicer. with the acv in place it purposly puts extra air into the intake stoke under certain conditions......what is the point of this? wouldnt the car run lean any time the acv let air into the intake?
