My 85

Picked this up about 2 weeks ago. Added louvers, sold the wheels that were on it (baby supras) and added some Enkie 92's.

Guy didnt know what he had. He only bought it to help a family member out. I got there thinking it was an OK stock 1st gen. I start looking at it and found it had a RB intake manifold, Holley carb/fuel pressure regulator/fuel pump, GSL disc break LSD rear, Full exhaust/headers, and a few other goodies. That alone was worth more than what I paid.

At first it would not run. So I did a simple carb rebuild/tune and some spark plugs. Now it runs beautiful. I believe it also has a street port from the way it idles and sounds. Guy said it had a rebuild done 20k ago. Happy to have a 1st gen again, it's been too long.

The only thing I found bad was a broken throttle cable. lol...

Oh yeah... The way it sits right now in these pics. I'm only about 500 bucks into it for everything including the cost of the car!!!

Plans right now:

-Lower it some, but not much.
-3 piece wrap around wing.
-Clean it up.
* Lots of things need minor attention. Previous owner(s) didnt pay much attentiion to detail.

But, I can't find any rust anywhere besides the battery box. Which will get cut out when I move the battery to the rear bin. All in all, the car needs very little to be made into a gem once again. I'm extremely happy with my find.

Another one saved!!!!!!!!

And at a bargain no less.

Sometimes the most satisfying projects are not the all out, money no object builds but the clever, higher bang for the buck project where ingenuity and cleverness are used rather than just a checkbook,

Good find!

Wow, nice dude. I'd trade the body on my car for that! Except i'd get rid of the side moldings and marker lights like i did.

This one kinda needs the side moldings. They add to the blend of black and silver with the louvers and wheels.

Plus, you cant really tell. But this has the stainless plates that say RX7 on them below the molding on both side. Kinda rare to see those still intact. But you cant really see them in the pics.

So you also have a GSL-SE Suspension and bolt pattern!

I know louvers are loved by all, It's just something about having an 80's car that scream "I need louvers!" lol...

Ever seen the Rx2 venetian blinds? lol... Seriously, they have them.

No, not GSL-SE... The enkie 92's are 4x110. I think the guy slotted the baby supras out to fit the 4x110 bolt pattern. When I first seen them on there, I got excited thinking it was gsl-se also, and there were lug nuts not the bolts. But he added the studs to the hubs also. Tricked me twice...

And no, I mean below. Just below the side moldings, there are stainless steel plates that go along the bottom of the car. They start just below the side molding, and go all the way to the bottom. I'll try and get better pics of them tomorrow during the day.

I have only seen them once before. I think it was a dealer option way back. Not to sure. It's not the same thing as the targa option with the metal things over the roof right above the hatch.

I was thinking all the old school 92's with 4x110 bolt patter had the same offset. But i'm pretty sure these are more aggressive than most. They seem to stick out more than I am use to. Kinda wish I didnt go with the 225 now. They look mean, but They might rub hard if I lower the car to much.

Not sure on a suspension set-up as of yet. Thinking the RE-speed stuff so I can adjust the height to my liking. I'm not planing on racing or tracking the car competitively. So i'm really just going for the look on this one. Maybe i'll keep the low buck theme and try to get a used set of something...? I don;t know yet. Just got the car, lol...

yeah ive seen em in the 7 and like 20, which fits better but looks stock?

if you get some camber plates, it makes the front fit with tons of room. in the rear its tight, my car isn't that low though

I think most people agree, I took a look through my photos, couldn't find the louver/3 pc wing combo. I'd choose the 3 pc wing or nothing(more love for the louvers). Internal louvers(blinds) would be cool if done right.

Your car has many seesters, I have an older one, she's 29.
