My 79 smokes white, out of the little pipe next to the muffler. What does that mean??

Well started my rx again today, after taking the plugs out and turning it over, to make sure theres no water in the chamber. I dont think any water came out, and when it started the white smoke came out of the little pipe next to the muffler. It looks like it comes of the manifold? I was like
It only smokes on startup and when I rev it above 5G. If I slowly rev down it doesn't smoke that bad. Well if any body knows why please HELP, I dont really want to ahave to rebuild it just yet! THANKS,
LATERZ,
Andrew

If it is not a lot of smoke, I wouldn't let it worry me until it got worse. My 80 used to do that at start up with a fresh engine.
Does it smoke out of the muffler?

It is clouds

It has a cloud of VERY THICK WHITE SMOKE. It has a small pipe beside the muffler that spits the smoke out! Hope this helps THANKS LATERZ,

You've got a coolant leak somewhere that is dumping into the case around the thermal reactor. That little pipe leads to the thermal reactor shell which is fed diverted air from the air pump to prevent it from melting down. Where the leak is , I'd have no idea...does the smoke have a sweet smell? It's coolant for sure, if it does. Could be intake manifold or worse, one of the housing O-rings starting to go. My fingers are crossed for the manifold...

Actually, it is fed to the heat exchanger right after the thermal reactor.
The o rings in the manifold could be the cause, they are an easy fix. Just take off the intake manifold and replace them with new. See if that works.
