That's good, because idolatry is a sin.

Also, is it idling high, only runs if you hold the gas pedal down a bit, etc. Give us some details and we can go from there.

Hey, what kind of rotary mechanics are you guys, anyway?!? If you can't diagnose his idol (sic) problem with the information you provided, maybe we should switch to Honda's! (j/k)

Seriously, though - anytime you're trying to diagnose an engine idle issue, we're going to need the following information;

1) What year car, what model? (carb/EFI?)
2) How many miles?
3) What does it do, exactly?
4) When did you notice it? (all the time, just sometimes?)
5) What have you done to try and fix it?
6) What kind of experience do you have working on cars?
7) Anything else that you'd like to add?

That last one is a bit weak, but I figured I need to have '7' questions. HTH,

i have the same problem.. mine is a 79 with a stock 12a.. i took out the exhaust and replaced it with an RB header.. i took the air pump out also.. and i replaced the ignition with the second gen direct fire.... it starts great and when the choke is on it runs nice and smooth... but as soon as the choke lets off.. it dies.. so i am thinking i have alot of vaccum leaks.. but if anyone has any ideas.. let me know .. thanks

No need to block where the air pump used to be. The ACV hole is what needs to be blocked. Is that what you meant?

yeah. i wasn't sure if that was the name. mine did the same thing when i put on a header. it would crank up on the inital start, but when it came down from 3k it would just shut off. then i realized what the problem was and was pissed because i needed something to block it off. upon searching the box my exhaust came in i realized racing beat is amazing, put the plate on and i was in business

at advanced auto parts and they have a product call like create a gasket or something like that. it comes in a tube. i used it to make sure i got a good seal. its pretty easy to use also. about the holes in the airbox......i would just convert to a cone filter. for the $$ it would cost you to fix them if you don't have the stuff laying around you could pick up a generic filter off of ebay. my .02

well i have used that stuff before so thats a cool idea but i dont know what you mean by a cone filter.. i have a 79 and its carburated.. so i dont think i can just slap a cone filter on it.
