My 1985 GSL SE ran at full rev only after replacing fuel injectors.

A friend at work got me fuel injectors from a junk yard and I had my mechanic install them. It only ran at full rev so I parked it(10 years ago). Does anyone know what could have happened? I have the 2 original injectors and am going to have Injector Repair rebuild them. Thanks for the help.

Only way that could have happened is if the throttle cable or cruise control cable were bound or installed incorrectly. Replacing the injectors will not cause high revving of the engine as they are metered by the ecu.

Agreed. You're wasting your $$$ on injector rebuild. You probably have a problem with the throttle cable or Cruise Control cable being installed incorrectly. Might also have a close look at the Throttle Position Sensor to be sure it's not stuck open, but even that wouldn't cause the engine to race to redline without enough open air passages (throttle body) to support incoming air as registered by the Air Flow Meter.

You parked it 10yrs ago, and you're just now thinking about it? You're a patient man,

After 10 years you will have a lot of other issues to resolve than just this one. Oh, and don't use that mechanic anymore.
