i decided to fit after market electrical oil pressure gauge. unfortunately the 'mushroom' stalk was a bit short so I couldn't fit the mushroom. I then cut off the stalk from the std sender, tapped it, and screwed the new mushroom onto this stalk. wired it all up. I now get a reading of 50psi at idle moving to 80psi when driving. the gauge is 100psi max. the gauge fits snugly in the air vent on the right hand side of the gauge cluster. (i will take some pics the weekend)

i guess the reason the stock gauge is not working properly probably has something to do with the fact that i moved from the external regulated alt to the s5 internally regulated alt. this is the only plausible reason i can come up with for crap reading from that thing.

i'm actually a bit concerned about my temp reading now as well so want to test with some external gauge first. my cluster temp gauge only goes up to about 1/3 of the way and stays there.

Nice work. 1/3 of the way up on the temp gauge is normal, although a aftermarket gauge might not be a bad idea. Oil temperature is a nice gauge to have too, mazda should have put one on from the begninning. Good luck with the break in.
