My 1/4 mile time

Well my best was 15.6 at 83 mph. I could have done better but I slid quite a bit in 1st and 2nd. But that one was the best out of the 3 that I did run. It was faster then most of the hondas out there so I am happy anyways.

Nice job man. I was wondering what my car would run, but I dont know about going to the track and stuff. I want to try sometime though. My goal is a 12 second car, lol. I plan on turbo and porting eventually though...For now I would be happy with your times, but I still need work just to get there .

I'm no expert but you can lower those times...there are a few other tricks that you can make to your car.

Maybe you should post ALL of your mods and the folks here can point you to the right direction.

Anyhow those are not bad times at all. Congratulations.

I ran on winter tires, spun them thru 1st, 2nd, and 3rd, bogged once in 4th, and crossed the line at 15.4 @ 89.9mph haha, time for some real tires I'd say.

yes it is time for some new tires but, that involves money, something i dont have at this time. One day I will have them and I will be happy. And by the way those are all the mods, the ones in my signature. I am still on the hunt to upgrade my points distributor to electronic and to find somebody around here that knows how to set up the weber correctly.

You can certainly drop those times, traction is a number one from launch and through the gears. Getting rid of the points distributor will help a bundle, especially with tune ups.

Zulu,
What mods do you have in your SE?

Zulu,
What mods do you have in your SE?

K&N filter, emissions legal street-port, stock RE-EGI setup, RB Header, custom exhaust. Dropped a bit on suspension techniques springs, st front anti-swaybar, beefy clutch, shitty tires.

Your mph seems really low for that e.t. in my opinion, what's up with that?

When I was running 15.7 (with kinda-stock Nikki and stockport 12A), I was doing it at 87 mph.

You should be seeing above 90mph for sure.

Given your mods, I would think that a significantly better time should be possible if you've got that carb tuned properly; I would expect you should be able to break into the high 14's at least.

Yeah I think I can do better too. The electronic distributor is next I just have to find one now. Where I live is a military town so the junkyards around here love to rip people off. And yes I could put it on a diet, I did still have the spare and the jack and a couple of things behind the seat. I also dont know whats up with the mph, its just the way it works I guess. If I had a scanner I would scan the slip for you. Thanks all.

Weight is definitely key, and will make quite a difference in your time.

I apologize if I'm telling you something you already know, but you do have a decent fuel pump on there right? The only reason I ask is because you said those were your 'only' mods. If you haven't upgraded your fuel setup you better lol.

The low MPH would be due to lousey 60" times, all about tires. what were your 60" #s?

I agree your MPH is low. I have turned a 15.6/90mph in my '82 GS. That's stockport, headers/full exhaust, cold air box.

my 60" time was 2.376. I dont know why the mph is so slow, I swear to you that is what is on this little piece of paper. I do need wider tires I know that is what my problem is.

Yes and my fuel system does need upgraded. I am still running a stock fuel pump. A holley is in my sights though so it wont be too long before I get everything right.

If the car isn't stumbling why do you need to upgrade the pump? My car doesn't even drain the bowls on a dyno run.

It does stumble a bit, just not bad. I had to turn the fuel pressure way up to make it run good. My first run I had it at about about 2.5 psi and drained the bowls about half way down and got a real shitty time. I turned it up all the way and it ran 100 times better.

I had a 3.0s 60' on my best launch (went from idle), the rest I just nuked the tires and went slower :p 2nd gear was useless, I'd let the tires grab then get back on the gas and they'd nuke again - it'd never do that on the road. Something about the track surface and my winter tires

O'well, time to try a g-tech just to put my mind at ease, hehe. I suspect low 14s with real tires, and if I had slicks I'm sure I could hit a 13.9

1rx7owner,

So you're telling me you're going WOT for 1/4 mile runs with a stock fuel pump on a streetported engine with an IDA?

No offense, but that isn't very bright. You're likely running lean at the high end. Just because you have good fuel pressure at idle doesn't mean anything.

If I were you, I would *cut that out* until you install a proper fuel pump.

I don't see why the fuel pump is such a priority. My car has 220 RWHP and probably guzzels alot more gas and it doesn't run out of fuel ever. Maybe you should change your fuel filter if your car is stumbling.
