Angry muffler install stopped again..............

Holy crud, i hate this. I wish there was no such thing as rust because niw the bolts and nuts seem completely glued where the muffler attatches to the connecting pipe. What should i do, i stopped wrenching because they were starting to strip. I dont want to have to take it to a shop but i dont have a plasma cutter, welder, and all that good stuff because my dad's workshop is set up for wood work. Anyways, thanx for the help guys and any other tips would still be cool. later Jesus loves you

you could always try liquid wrench, or some other rust cutter spray... but i am currently having the same problem, and if your situation is any like mine, you will either have to weld them off or break them off. One tricky thing to do is to get a drill, and a bit that you don't care about that is small, and try to drill directly through the bolt, that will most likley break it. i've personally never tried that before though, so I don't know how easy it is. good luck!

Get an impact and zip it off. I would have snapped so many bolts off my exhaust and suspension if i didn't have my lovely impact. Yea and the one nut i couldn't get to on my rear end snapped BUT Rx7Carl fixed me up right nice

Yea, use a cutoff wheel, or sawzall and cut the head off and remove it that way. Works everytime.

Get yourself a propane torch and heat those exhaust nuts nice and hot, Then try removing them. Heating them up will cause them to expand and make removal much easier. Worked for me anyways.

propane will work, but if you have a few extra bucks get a bottle of MAPP gas. I forget the temp difference, but its notably hotter than propane, works real fast.

PB B'laster Penetrating Lubricant is sold at most auto parts stores inclucing Kragen and Pep Boys.

I also have good luck spraying it with a rust neutralizer like POR-15 Metal Ready. Spray - wire brush - repeat. It will soak into the threads.

I've had good success with this. The trick is to use a drill bit that is smaller than the O.D. of the threads and to drill in there slowly. Lots of PB B'laster. And once the bit starts to bite good set the drill to low speed and reverse direction. Sometimes it'll back screws right out for you.

Lots of experience doing this with my 30 year old REPU that was owned in salt air climates
