MSD Question???
Were going to be hooking up a MSD 6a box on a friends 85 gsl. This guy doesnt want to use 3 coils because he wants the stock look. Now if we hook up the purple and green wires from the MSD right before or after the leading stock ignitor (tapped) and then wire the orange and black wires (MSD) to the leading coil would it still work? My guess is it wii work but just want some input 1st. Thanks!

It would be better to run the green/purple before the ignitor so you can remove it and be rid of the troublesome part. The MSD box will act as the ignitor now and is much more reliable.
Also, get a good quality cap and rotor, prefferably one with brass terminals. The hot, multiple fire MSD will speed up cap/rotor erosion which is yet another reason why the 3 coil, direct fire method is more popular.

Yea,removing a tiny little black box from the distributor(which will leave you stranded when it fails...and it will).....is a lot less conspicuous than a big red ignition box sitting in the engine bay.
Most cars have only one ignitor,so only having one left will be even more "regular" looking, for an 80's style distributor fired ignition system.

Your friend sounds like my old friend with his stock GSL-SE. He didn't want to upgrade anything that was visible. His mod list was K&N drop in element, Jacobs coils and 10mm wires. He refused to do any other mods.
