Sure, but it won't limit the trailing, which won't insure the engine from reving past the set limit on the leading.

You can add a 2nd rev lmiter for the trailing, not sure if you need one for each trailing plug, or disable the trailing entirely. You'll need to make some wiring changes since the tach and fuel pump are tied into the trailing.

I'm not sure if it causes engine damage, but I have the 6AL on the leading with the 8500 plug. Basically, when I hit 8500, power loss is dramatic and sudden. Shift.

Haven't had a problem in 5 years. I don't hear detonation, it just drops power.

I don't think so...you'd need the 3 box setup I believe (1 L, 2T)

you only need 3 boxes on 2nd and 3rd gens because of the waste spark,i am using 2 6al boxes,a 1980 distributor, and 2, 2 step modules, that way i can control both leading and trailing

no points,i use the 80 dist because it uses a harness that plugs into ignitors on the strut tower, unplug it from the factory ignitors and plug it into the 6al boxes.

Disabling the trailing will make very little difference in performance. Trailing spark helps clean up emissions more than anything else.

Ideal rpm pill

I got a 13b 6port with a 48 ida, headers, and a msd6al with a 2 step.what would be an ideal launch rpm pill and rev limit pill?this car will be raced occasionally just for fun.

I'm thinking, 7800rpm would be a nice top rpm limit, and 4000 should be fine for launch because it will be somewhere around peak torque.

Do I have to cut the red and blue loop for the revlimit to work?

Setting the rpm launch limit is full of variables, hp, tire size, track conditions/grip level, gearing. It will take a bit of testing and one setting won't be valid for every race. Testing between 4-5k would be a good place to start.

Disable your trailing ignition and see what happens.

running just the leading should be fine.
i ran my car for a couple of days with out the trailing (waiting on new plugs) and it ran fine. cant really tell the difference in performance either.
hehe i run a single msd box for leading.

Any thoughts on this item to use and what cylinder setting would we use?
