msd ignition
msd ignition
I was reading mazpeeds wiring for the MSD box and one thing that puzzled me is
the two leadings are set up to fire at the same time?
Ive read through that several times and even installed it but the motor always sounds alot more smooth with stock ignition through all of the rpm ranges
all plugs are good
8mm mag core wires
all new msd coils
all connections are correct and good
my only disadvantage (which seems like my advantage for hearing how my car is running)is my lightened flywheel
anyone know of another way of connecting this up

The setup you are talking about, does fire both leading at the same time. This is the MSD DLFIS setup. It requires 3 coils to work properly. I have mine setup with just two coils, one for leading, one for trailing. They both go through the distributor like normal. With this setup, both leading will NOT fire at the same time. The disadvantage to this setup is that the cap and rotor will wear out faster due to the hotter spark.
John has a very nicely installed setup, he had his car up this past weekend for a carb upgrade. If you go this route, spend the extra cash at the dealer and buy the cap with the brass pickups. All of the other aftermarket ones I've seen are aluminum.
