Hey all,

So, in the MSD Blaster coil info it says that a 0.8 ohm ballast resistor is required when running with stock ignition systems. I will be using thiscoil with a stock '83 ignition system (on the leading plugs). Do I need to find a ballast resistor or will the system work fine without it. If one is required, where do I get one from??

Replying to myself. I did a search and it looks like no resistor is required. Anyone have a positive confirmation on that?

Not 100% on this, but I believe the ballast resistor is only required for points style ignition systems, not on the 83. Of course I don't know what a balance resistor is, just vomiting up information I think i heard earlier....... School's trained me well.

Because if the full current was run through the points, they would last all of 1000 miles before they needed to be replaced...not the discharge current, just the current needed to collapse the coil's field...
