Mr2 Fans question

Will the dual 85-89 MR2 fan setup cool the 79-82 front oil cooler?

Looks like the factory shroud opens out a little for cooling of the oil cooler. I can't seem to find accurate dimensions for them.

Thanks
-Paul

I have them on my 80 SA and its seems to work just fine. The MR2 fan shroud
dips down just a bit to cover a small part of the oil cooler top. I have my fans
running full time unless I'm in 4th or 5th gear. Heres the pic of it:

Thanks! That's what I needed to know. I've seen your pictures and Kentetsu's in various posts but was unable to see if they covered the cooler.

Time for a trip to the junk yard!

Oops! I miss spoke. The MR2 fans only cover the radiator ( I just went in the garage
and looked ) but I've never seen a an issue with overheating and I've been running
them for >2 years now and in 100+ degree heat.

Sorry about that. Still a good fan setup IMHO.

Guys,
I used MR2 mk2 e-fans on my fb.
They fit the full height series 3 rad fine but hit the bottom hose on the smaller S2 rad.
Are the MK1 fans smaller??
I'm currently running the full height S3 rad but I'm about to fit my turbo and want to change from the water cooled 'beehive' oil cooler to the S2 air cooled cooler.
Here's my install...

I used an Autocool controller so that the fan speed is proportional to the engine speed. Works very well

The MKI fans are basically the same fans I think based on looking at your pics. I did
have to cut out a small corner of the shroud to clear the bottom radiator hose.

This wont allow the engine oil temp to raise too much?
