MPG Update

Well, i went on a trip down to Novi, about 180 miles down and 180 miles back. On the way there i got 22.5 miles per gallong, on the way back i got about 23. This is on a 13b 6 port with a large street port so im quite surprised. hows everyone else doing?

I went down to Tucson last week, about 140 miles each way, fillup in between, and managed about 21mpg on my 13b RE-EGI, 6PI 84SE. That's about what I was expecting. I get about 17-18 in town, and not much better on the highway. These quotes are with A/C running full blast the whole time, though, and I got as much as 26 without A/C running before I had it recharged.

I get better fuel economy in the hot summer here (110deg F) because the A/F balance requires less fuel due to the relatively higher intake air temp. The EFI system is pretty good at mixing the right fuel on intake during the summer, which is nice. Unfortunately, that A/C sucks a lot more gas when you have to overcome the compressor loads during acceleration and such. I was surprised to lose about 2-4mpg using A/C versus without.

I guess the total driving experience is much better with A/C however - I can't believe I drove this car so many years in this kind of heat without it up and running. I'm living the dream, man!
