moved Alt and installed Carb Hat on N/A
Well after getting the coilovers/Camberplates installed I went after the altenator mod and installed the carb hat and cone filter. Makes a real difference in how the engine compartment looks having done this. I adjusted the ride hieght as well......let's just say that I can fit my "finger" in the front fender between the tire...Low! The rears are now "tucked" with the wheel/tire combo I have on at this minute. No pics of the ride hieght tonight...too dark. Here's shots of the engine compartment as of tonight. More after I fix my mistake in cross threading an Aeroquip -10 oil fitting and move it out for a good wash down.
Let me know what you think!

That looks like some nice work on the carb hat and the intake tube .
Couple of questions: Is there any gains from having you intake set up like that? Also seeing how it looks like you had the tube custom made why didn't you route it out in front of the radiator by cutting a whole throught the radiator support? Last one I see you are running the 2cgdif (sp?) why do you have the trailing coil still hooked to the dizzy?
I cant wait to see the pics of you car with the coilovers

The carb hat I got on ebay for 20 bucks, piping....are you ready?....I found at the waste transfer station when I was unloading my trash...it was right there on top just waiting for me to take it home. Perfect fit! God does drive a RX-7!
I did the pre-2cgdif before the mod was done to use the 2nd gen coil unmoded. Mine is gutted(no ignitor) One of these days I'll get another FC coil and do it correctly.
I think I will extend the piping all the way through to the front to get more cool air. As for performance, I'll have to wait till I get it back on the road....oil fitting doesn't show up till Monday.

Will the carb hats off any holley 4bbl fit a nikki? What size is the carb opening? I think My N20 setup would work better with a hat and intake tube...
I was thinking of this one?

Even with the 2cgdif with out the igniter I think you can remove the trailing ignition wire from the coil to the dizzy. Ther is no need for it to be connected.

The Carb hat opening is 2.25in, the piping is 2.75in to the filter. 2.25-2.75 Reducer and clamps are from ebay($21.00), Filter($28.00), Piping(Dumpster special!)
The reason for moving the alt was (1) It moves the center of gravity lower. (2) It was a Blake mod that I had to have. (3) It really cleans up the top of the motor, looks totally different then stock. (4) It gives me more options for a strut bar now that the OEM filter housing is gone.

The Fan is from a 3rd GEn, one of two I purchased off a forum member for $15 shipped.
Fits like a glove on the short 3 row rad, I got a FC oilcooler sitting forward and below the rad.

Lives on the Forum
I know that a cold air intake can add a little bit of power if done correctly, but just by looking at it it seems like that would be more of a restriction than anything. Looks like some nice work, but I'd have to question whether you'll see any performance gains. Not meaning to slam you or anything, just my 2 cents... I like the alt relocation too.
