Yeah it looks nice! The V-8 is quite a cozy fit, but overall it looks clean. I hope that one day the Rotary engine will have enough variations that can perform just as well as a V-8 and is just as easy and cheap to find. After all, isn't that the reason you went V-8? The power! A triple-rotor costs an arm and a leg, and so we find the cheapest hp and that's in the form of all-American iron!

Haha, still like the car, even if it kinda has an odd "after-taste". Keep up the good work, and good luck in the future!

Good luck
What kind of tires was that 13.2@ 109 MPH at? My car only has 220RWHP and I though I would be in the 13's for sure, now I am getting doubt's.

Well I have tracked the car at Texas World Speedway and it is wonderful. My instuctor drove the car for one session and he is a guru (ford invited him to the 100th aniversary to be an instuctor) his comments on the car was that it was well balanced. He also stated that I needed better pads, better tires, a .80 fifth gear and had to get the play out of the center of the steering box. The weight was with 1/4 tank of fuel. When I am in there it puts 100 on the front and 140 on the rear. Overall it is a kick-*** car. I need to do the rack-and-pinion conversion if it will work with the v8 and they ever actually offer it for sale.

Chris

Street tires on the 13.23@110. It would be into the twelves with drag radials.

Ah, I have drag radials. Possibly going to the track this weekend. We'll see what happens.

Hey Chris, what spring rates did you settle on for your car? Are you running the 175lbs rears? Just curious how the car is balanced with so much HP. Also, what sway bars are you running. BTW I like your site and have used it to get many ideas on my car. I also love the Ghia and SC'd Miata. Too bad you don't live near me. I'd love to see some of these cars up close.

Time fore some more pictures of the swap.

I just got the RX-7 driveshaft to day, along with the rest of the GSL suspension so I can put the wheels back on the car. The wiring and many other things will be done in the next few days, and I should be ready to start it by next week if all goes well. Expect a video or two of it running open headers.

Thanks for the compliments on the cars, it's like telling a proud father he has good looking kids... never a bad deal. I went with 175 in the rear and 350's in the front, I think. My instructor at my last driving school thought that the car was well balanced, and that the sterring sucked.... waiting for the R&P conversion....

I have the car up on jack stands now, I am swapping the 5th gear for a .80 and regearing to 3.636..... should be fun.

I am running the suspension technique sways, they are doing good...

Keep up the good work on the car.

The car is being built very similarly to Chris's 5.0 swap with basically a full IT suspension down the road. As an open track car, i'm expecting it to turn extreamly well.

Just fitted the hood and it's going to clear without having to run a scoop. Can someone say "sleeper"?

My goal is to have the car started no later than Wed., and to drive it home to Va on Sunday. I don't know if this is going to happen though. I'll keep everyone informed and expect a video of the car's first start.
