motor/tranny comparitive mount locations

So in the long run (slowly gathering parts) I'm headed for a TII swap.
the car is a 1985 GSL The 12a motor runs strong (for a 12a). The tranny is comming up for a rebuild besides witch it's extension housing is cracked and needs replaced.
My solution is to mate the TII tranny with the 12a until I finish getting togather the rest of the swap.

I plan on using the RE-SPEED rack & pinion kit (they say it mounts both the 13b & 12a on the same unit).

question is: isnt the 13b longer than the 12a, thus it would sit the trany farther back?
will I have to use one tranny mount for 12a and one for TII?

umm. the 13B is a longer engine but the Re-speed cross member allows you to mount the engine in 1 of two locations (as i understand it).

Therefore whilst you have your 12A with TII tranny you use the one mounting point and when you get the TII engine running and in you use the other set.

BUT either Billy or someone like dj55b (or others with the crossmember) would be better able to understand/tell you how everything mounts

Just an update. Billy at RE-SPEED said that the mount is slitted for either 12a or 13b. the lenght differance is accounted for in the conversion mount. the tranny stays where it is for either motor.
