motor mounts: which is better polyurethane or billet aluminium
I'm going to be replacing my clutch soon and was thinking about upgrading my motor mounts while the engine and trans are disconnected and the engine will be easier to lift but im not sure which is better.
Here are the competition motor mounts from Mazdatrix if you are interested in purchasing something off the shelf. I know a lot of people just use one of these on the passenger side mount, and leave the driver side mount stock. The engine has a tendency to rock towards the passenger side as it is revved up. Changing out just the passenger side engine mount eliminates this. However, you still have the stock mount on the driver's side, so at idle it gives the vibration from the engine a place to be dampened. It also reduces your cost since you only have to buy one engine mount instead of two.

Another option that you may want to look at is using hockey pucks with a hole in the middle of them. Lots of people do that also. It sounds nuts, but it actually works pretty well from what I've read. Do a search for "hockey puck" and see what you can find. You might be surprised.
Hope this gives you something else to think about, and points you in the right direction.

Nope, the trans mount is square with two studs embedded in it. You don't want it any stiffer than stock, though. Not much torque reaction back there (mount is close to centerline so linear movement is small compared to motor mounts), but it does need some give if you don't want to break things.
