More Car Adive :) 1984 RX-7

Ive been looking for a 2nd Gen Rx-7. But all ones ive found around my Town are sold. Cause i was really looking forward to a 2nd Gen 13a. But i found a 84 RX-7, but was gonna ask for more advice from you Rotary Nuts .

Its a 84 RX-7, he would include some extra's which seem pretty nice.... Extras would be like...

hood
T2 turbo manifold,
T2 front cover,
T2 intercooler,
Racing beat sway bar,
carb parts,
steering wheel,
extra carb,
Set of 14" limited edition rims and tires
ect... lots of odds and ends

So it would seem i could put the TII Turbo on it right? But it probally have the 12A Engine i would guess. But it has New Doors with Power WIndows.

But Pictures can be seen HERE

Plus im new to the Rotary Engine stuff, so are 1st gens more Difficult then 2nd gens? or Visa-Versa.

But should i keep looking for a 2nd Gen, or Step down to a First Gen?

Thanks
Doug

Ive been building this car for a couple of years now. It has a 4.11 limited slip rear end with rear disk breaks. It has power windows. new carpet kit. It has a full racing exaust from the headers back from rotory works, it has racing beat springs front and rear. the guages including the clock all work the radio surround is perfect along with the ashtray. It has a short throw shifter. I also have a racing beat front sway bar that is MASSIVE. The steering is still tight. It sounds great and is not loud. IT needs a paint job, I have the origonal door panels but they are tired and should be re covered to look as good as the carpet kit. Please Email me m_mcaffee@ do not call as Im not there very often. I can send pics if you like. The car has 160000 or so but the engion and tran have 90000.

Step UP to a 1st Gen, they are more simple, lighter, better balanced and have a world of options to gain power and handling.

Things to look out for include rust under the storage bins, does it have disc brake rear end (this includes LSD) are the front rails bent anywhere.

Otherwise go for it, you'll never look back.

well 1st of all you will be steping up to a 1st gen 2nd gen would be a step down ...really tho yeah you can use the tII manifold to put the turbo on the 12a just need to make a few mods...they are both ez cars to work on the 1st gen is ez'er of the 2 as its carbed...if i where you i would get the 1st gen..it is the lightest of all 3... its ez to work on and makes for a good 1st car

I got over 2nd gens many bottles of asprin ago. Rust. Watch for the rust. I got so lucky when I got my first one. I bought in Montana, an 85 with 85,000mi and no rust (they don't use salt on the roads there). As for performance, its incredibly easy and cheap to maintain and mod.

But I love my 1st Gen!!!

...on the positive side, fewer electronics in the 1st gen mean less things to go wrong! (of course the electronics that are there are older.... lol)
