Moonroof crank parts?

I purchased a 1984 GSL a week or so ago, and the crank for the moonroof is inoperative, I've been searching around and I cant find a single replacement part for one. I've seen mention of replacing the internals, but I haven't found a parts source for them, maybe I missed it. Anyone know where I can find anything?

Inoperative or broken? if you can get the sunroof/moonroof off, you can take apart and grease up the parts for the "screw" that raises and lowers, mine works but from time to time will stick, perhaps yours has too.

I had to replace mine because it was broken internally. I guess I tightened it too tightly one day and snap..it then rotated freely. Does this happen to yours?

I got a new replacement at VB now known as Black Dragon Automotive..set me back $130..

Mine was red: Part # 59-962-RD 1 ROTARY LATCH-RED 1 REQ 129.95

bluezone is right, black dragon is the only way to get a new one. I would post a want ad in the for sale section for a used one.

I'll have to take it aprt and find out. It doesn't do anything but spin. I found blackdragon and am waiting on a catalogue, the online version of thier catalogue I found isn't very user friendly.

Thanks guys.

FYI,

I have an 85, and I replaced my crank (used) from an original OEM 83' and it does not close all the way. Stops about 1/16" short. Just make sure you get one from an 84-85.

I'm pissed and don't want you pissed as well. Learn from my mistake.

Yup,. if it spins freely like that it's cracked on the inside. You have to take the sunroof off and remove the crank by unscrewing the top 4 screws..it drops right out.

They are all the same from 80-85 other than color. If you are having a problem with getting yours to go down, it must be getting stuck. Try pulling it apart and cleaning it.

I paid $15 shipped. However, you will need somthing to hold your sunroof on with, unless you plan on welding it in or racing with the roof open.
